Standard Poly Septic Tanks for Residential & Light Commercial Systems

Standard duty poly septic tanks are a great fit for typical residential septic systems and many light commercial septic applications. These rotationally molded plastic septic tanks are lightweight, corrosion-resistant and easy to install with common jobsite equipment.

Our standard septic tanks are available in single compartment and dual compartment designs from 300 to 1,500 gallons. Use the options below to decide which compartment layout is right for your septic system, then choose the tank size that matches your design.

Single Compartment Standard Septic Tanks

Single compartment septic tanks are commonly used on standard gravity septic systems and many pump systems. Wastewater enters one tank where solids settle and effluent flows to the drainfield or to a separate pump tank.

  • Typical for standard residential septic systems
  • Simpler plumbing and fewer components
  • Available from 300–1,500 gallons

Dual Compartment Standard Septic Tanks

Dual compartment septic tanks include two chambers in a single tank. The first compartment captures most solids, while the second compartment provides additional settling and clarification before effluent is discharged.

  • Often preferred by designers and health departments
  • Improved effluent quality for drainfields and mounds
  • Available in popular residential sizes

Applications for Standard Septic Tanks

Standard poly septic tanks are used in a wide range of onsite wastewater applications where a reliable, cost-effective buried septic tank is required.

  • Residential septic systems: Single-family homes, multi-family residences, cabins and rural properties using gravity or pump septic systems.
  • Light commercial & small businesses: Restaurants, offices, shops and similar facilities with moderate wastewater flows and standard burial depths.
  • Agricultural & rural properties: Farm and ranch buildings, agricultural worker housing and other on-farm septic system needs.
  • Replacement septic tanks: Upgrading older concrete septic tanks to lighter, corrosion-resistant poly septic tanks in existing septic systems.

For septic systems with deeper burial requirements, higher loads or demanding soil conditions, consider upgrading to a heavy-duty septic tank. For systems needing a lift station or pressure dosing, pair your standard septic tank with a septic pump tank.

State Approval & Installation Guidance

Septic tanks must be approved in the state where they are installed. Our standard poly septic tanks are supported with manufacturer approval letters by state and IAPMO certification where applicable.

When you open any standard septic tank product below, use the state selector on the product page to confirm that model is a state-approved septic tank for your installation. Your installer or designer can use the approval letters and specifications for permitting and inspection.

Always follow local septic system codes and the septic tank manufacturer’s installation instructions for bedding, backfill, venting and maximum burial depth.
