One Clarion delivers above-ground and underground fire suppression tanks (FSTs) with sealed engineered drawings (as required). Tanks come in different materials for unique needs. All tanks meet NFPA 22 and AWWA D103 (or equivalent) standards. Interior tank liners meet NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 requirements for potable water storage.

What “NFPA 22 Compliant” Means—In Practice

NFPA 22 is the standard governing the design and installation of water tanks for private fire protection. Your AHJ—typically a fire marshal, though sometimes a building official or an insurer—sets the requirements to be met and approves the fire protection tank design. This means that your AHJ has the final say on what meets the requirements for your fire protection tank installation. One Clarion provides sealed drawings, product data, and firefighting tank material options to support that acceptance.

Tank Types & Typical Use Cases

Bolted Steel (AWWA D103) — Above Ground Storage Tank

Best for: Use cases where there is heavy snow loading or a need for modularity. Highlights: Large capacities (up to 3.9 million gallons). Meets NFPA 22 regulations. Snow load options available. Modular design. Regulated by AWWA D103 reference.

Corrugated Panel Tanks — Above Ground Storage Tank

Best for: Use cases where cost-efficiency and quick installation is key. Highlights: Corrosion resistant panels. Wide range of NFPA accessories. Documented NFPA 22 equivalency for AHJ acceptance.

Fiberglass (FRP) — Above Ground Storage Tank or Below Grade

Best for: Corrosive environments (coastal/industrial), low maintenance, custom designs. Highlights: Corrosion resistant, custom designed, lightweight. Designed to your needs. AWWA D120 reference

Welded Steel — Above Ground Storage Tank

Best for: Custom geometry, high seismic/wind, extreme capacities. Highlights: Custom built and large capacities. AWWA D100 reference
